About Maine Recon

Maine Recon in Scarborough, Maine, started as a weekend hobby, dabbling into an abyss of what feels like therapy and just a place to get away. The passion and rush that follows seeing the final product of a days hard work is so satisfying. In 2011, I had the opportunity to learn a skill set that so many people have left behind. I had an opportunity to learn how to detail everything by hand, and be shown the correct way to do things. Learning tips and tricks along the way. That skill set will never surpass the level of service I provide today. In 2013 I moved on from my mentor and decided to open up a small used car dealership and auto center, to put my business and diesel engineering degree to use.

Regretfully, due to a divorce, I had to let that business go. However, I do stay in touch with its current owners and I know all my previous customers are in great care. Upon all of lifes hardships, I never gave up on myself, I found a great connection with Maine Limousine located in South Portland. Upon starting there, I was asked to help show his small detail team some of the things I have learned over my last few years, as knowledge is power and it will just help everyone flourish and succeed.

I did just that, and in 2016 I took over the detailing operation exclusively for Maine Limousine. After 2 years of working 6 days a week ,buffing, polishing limousines and caring for them, The owners forwarded me an opportunity to help me create an LLC and perform this function as my own entity. In 2018 I built J2D Ventures LLC and began building a small clientele as we still continue to care for the large fleet of limousines, over the next 2 years I watched Maine Limousine, grow and expand to the point of outgrowing their current property, as the owners began looking for new property, I would sit in with the leadership team weekly and give them input on how a separate detail bay could benefit them.

During the summer of 2019 they entered into an agreement with a large facility in Scarborough, which is our current home. The entire fall, we continued to push plans for a Maine Recon retail space and a second location away from my home. In February 2020, The second location was born and is now turning into Southern Maine’s best boutique detail spa. With a growing list of over 568 clients since February 2020, Maine Recon is still passionately dedicated to that feeling of rush and excitement the we strive to get from every customer.

We invite you to call and inquire or stop in and say hello, our doors are always open, the beer is always cold and the climate is always just right!

Meet Our Staff

Ryan "RY GUUY" Conary - Recon Specialist(2019-2020)

RIP Aug. 9th 2020- Forever In our Hearts!

From a very young age you could find Ryan playing with matchbox cars, making dirt roads and tiny towns. Ryan grew up with a strong love for vehicles of every make and model, whether it be a dropped S10 , an 18 wheeler and all that lies between.

Shortly after graduating from Maranacook HS in 2014, Ryan moved to southern Maine. Always rocking multiple jobs, bringing his cheerleader enthusiasm. With the largest Dunkin iced coffee in hand, stellar work ethic, silliness and joyful laugh. Prior to and while at Maine Recon, Ryan worked with his mom and many family members at the Portland Jetport. Later working for Kenney Automotive, as well as a Dangerous Goods Specialist at FedEx Express.

Ryan was given the opportunity to work along side Josh early in 2020, ultimately joining the Maine Recon Family. As no surprise, Ryan was elated to start this journey which turned into a true passion that shined through the work he did. To Ryan there was something magical about the thrill of recon work. From the initial conversation with the customer, to final completion, the exhilaration of the reveal and anticipation of what was rolling in next. He cared so deeply for others. Priding himself on the work he did. Ryan surely enjoyed celebrating everyone's joy and excitement. He embodied the most genuine kind heart.

REST EASY BUD! "OHH YUP!"

Clint joined Maine Recon during the summer of 2020. He is a graduate of Bonny Eagle High School class of 2013. He spends his spare time indulging his love of cars, which is his favorite hobby and pastime.

Clint has always loved to detail. He got his start at the age of 14 cleaning vehicles belonging to family friends and his parents. He is very detail-oriented and is self motivated with everything he does and this transpires to the finished product of all vehicles leaving Maine Recon.

One of his favorite quotes is "Get it done right the first time so we don't have to do it again."

Patrick joined Maine Recon in 2020 as a co-op student in his senior year of high school. Where he attended South Portland High School.

A quirky thing about him is that he hangs all of his t-shirts on hangers instead of folding them. Also, after he buys a new pair of shoes he does not throw away the shoe box, he saves it!

He is a currently a certified Detailer with the International Detailers Association as of 2021 and is currently attending UMO and studying mechanical engineering. He stays up to date with us and his certifications and continues to grow within our industry

Hope "Moneybags" Cash - Detail Apprentice (2021-2022)

2nd Year Detail Apprentice

Hope joined Maine Recon in August 2021 as a co-op student in her Junior year at Thornton Academy where she is minoring in medical.

A goal of hers is to attend a college or university, graduate and enjoy the experience while there.

A quirky thing about her is that she likes to color-code her wardrobe at home which just happens to be a great attribute for someone in this industry. She will be learning from us and attending classes to learn more about what it takes to become a certified detailer with the International Detailing Association.

Her hobbies are listening to new music, basketball, cheering, volleyball and of course anything to do with cars.
